Our wedding DIY

After a full year, finally .... (Actually I did this post a long time ago, somehow I FORGOT to publish. I cannot believe it stayed in the draft for a little over a year. :P) Anyway, I want to dedicate this post just to talk about the things we (Evan and I) made for our wedding. For those who know me, I am a graphic designer and I like art and craft and making stuff, and hubby is a packaging designer, so what happened when two art people having a wedding together? They got to make a lot of stuff together and save a lot of money (or spend more because they want everything to be perfect? :/)

Our first try was those cute little hangers that has "Bride", "Mrs. Yang" or bridesmaid's name on it. It was actually pretty easy, after we got all the materials from Michael's, I finished the whole project within 2 hours. It's easy! If anyone are interested, feel free to let me know, so I might have a tutorial in the future.

Bridal Hanger

The next project will be our wedding invitation. We (especially I) want it to be unique, cute and lovely, I do not want to use those template invitation that everyone has. Since we bought our house in 2013, and getting married will be like starting a home/family together. I have this idea of building a new home from scratch. Well, making this pop up house is not hard; however, making 120 copies is really driving us crazy, LITERALLY crazy. We have to print, cut, fold, glue... every single task took us so much time. I kinda think it's a crazy idea to do a pop up wedding invitation, I have no idea how we could do it. :/

Very first prototype I made just to show Hub my idea (left); the actual invitation (Chin version) (right)

This is the project solely done by Evan. I was too overwhelming with work and wedding planning at that time, so hubby got to finish this himself. This is a very cute cake topper. Our cake was a strawberry short cake from Phoenix Bakery in downtown LA.  We shopped around for nearly two months, everything in town is either taste bad, or overly pricy. Most places we went to only offer normal wedding cake which has no icing or fondant or any kind of decoration. :( If we want something special, we will have to pay a fortune. Since Hub really like Phoenix's short cake (That's the first bakery we went to, and their cake was amazing and we got quite a few compliments on the cake, a few bride-to-be even asked us for their info.) We talked to Phoenix, and they will only provide simple cake design, so we decided to make a cake topper to make this simple wedding cake pops. Hub made two dolls out of paper and wood, standing under an arch. OMG!! This is just super cute!! With the cake and the fresh flowers. This  is just the best wedding cake ever!!!

Hub will take order to custom made wedding cake topper, if you want to order your cake topper with us. :) We can custom made one that suit you. email me, I am his manager! :P

Happy 1st year anniversary, happy Easter!

(Oh, by the way, as you see, my blog is alive again. :) stay tuned for more.)

Iron man 3

this is just sooo cute...

Hubby is a hardcore Iron man fan. I think he watched all three Iron mans plus the Avengers more than 10 times already, plus the numerous times when he was listening to the movie at work. He literally remembers all the scripts, senses and EVERYTHING. Give him an Iron man quiz, I'm sure he will  get 100% correct easily. (I just can't believe it, I mean who can do it? I bet Tony Stark can't! :/ )

When Iron man was about to come out, the release date in Asia was one week earlier than in United States. Hub got upset and frustrated, he was saying how unfair it is to have a different release date and US should get to release first, blah blah blah... I think if we have the time and $, he will want to fly to Taiwan/HK just to watch Iron man 3 a week earlier. HAHA...

Anyway, we went to watch the movie in old town monrovia on a Friday morning. (Can't believe I need to get up early for a movie. -.-) I like old town monrovia so much, everything is so peaceful and relax in here, there's a coffee house named "Friends". Altho it does not look exactly like the one in Friends, it still has some similar elements.

The theatre opened at 9:45am and we were there at 9:30am *bummer* We waited a bit, got the tickets, we thought there will be a large crowds lining up, but we were wrong. (not many people get the privilege to watch movie on a Friday morning, we are the lucky one. =D) The movie was okay, I would not say it was great. It was so different than what I anticipated. WHAT? Tony Stark has panic attack, just like million of people does. He is so human in this movie, the director took away the superhero factor and made him human again. I come in the theater wanting to see how the Superhero Tony Stark suprises me with all his high-tech shit, how he can use his money to build more advanced robots and stuff, instead I got a human Tony Stark with anxity attact and will constantly freak out just like I did. I guess this is why I do not like this movie.  (I might be wrong) and I think it's Pepper who saved Tony at the end of the movie, isn't  it? Tony Stark seems so weak and useless in this movie. :(

The Tony Stark I knew is the biggest playboy in the world, he is charming he is cute, he is the superhero and un-defeatable. Somehow in this movie, I do not see that. And the bio-weapon thingy, human body can turn into super high heat and melt away things? This reminds me of the Torch from Fantastic four. Remember at the very beginning of F4. Torch constantly burnt off his shirt when he was on fire. In IM3, why Pepper or the bad guys never burn off any of their clothing? This is just not making any sense to me.
